Program
The course is structured on the development of 5 core competencies:
- analyse a literary or cultural document, produce a critical argument, analyse a linguistic phenomenon, develop one’s career path, and finally, manage information and documentation for the students of the Documenting specialisation. It is necessary to validate one level for each competency every year.
- In the spirit of gradual specialisation, the first year is focused on discovering French and foreign literature and culture, writing and practising drama, language classes with grammar, linguistics, Latin initiation or reinforcement, digital literacy classes, art history, and studying other disciplines related to societal issues.
- In their second year, students will be required to choose between two specialisations, ‘Teaching’ and ‘Documenting’, each structured around a common core course. This choice allows students to start training in specific courses to fit their career ambitions.
- In the third year, the ‘Teaching’ specialisation is divided into three subprograms: ‘Modern Letters Teaching Option Secondary Education (PLC)’, 'Modern Letters Teaching Option Primary Education (PE)’ and ‘Modern Letters Option Teaching French as a Foreign Language (FLE)’.
- The ‘Modern Letters Option Documenting’ subprogram is accessible in second to third year for those who are not interested in the teaching department.
- For each subprogram, an internship has to be observed, with a final professional report to be marked.
