Objectives

  • The LMI degree is aimed at students - French or foreign - who are fluent in several languages and who wish to work in international careers. The course offers a multi-disciplinary teaching in relation to the international trade sector (marketing, import/export, logistics, negotiation, etc.) in the hope of developing students’ skills and interest in the social, economic and cultural environments of the various geographical areas studied.
  • Classes are mainly taught in English, but also in German, Spanish, Chinese or French.
  • This degree aims at training international trade experts who are able to work in a multi-cultural environment. By the end of the course, students will be work-ready professionals thanks to the comprehensive combination of lectures, practical workshops, work simulations, student projects, possible semester(s) abroad, and internships.

Skills

  • Language: Proficiency in at least 3 foreign languages, with one at beginner’s level (for speaking and writing) in professional contexts which may vary in their organization, and in situations of negotiation, operation monitoring, data analysis, content creation or just simple conversations.
  • Management: Skills and knowledge development in relation to international trade. Development of ability to manage projects and negotiations in a multilingual environment, and development of competencies in communication, marketing, import and export, and logistics. Finally, students also learn about entrepreneurship.
  • International: Comprehension of political, social, cultural and economic aspects of the modern societies whose language(s) are studied. Interculturalism is experienced during the classes and within the student population of the course.

Every skills learn during the programme of this Master’s degree is used by these trained young and motivated professionals in their next experiences which are often international.

8 weeks during the 2nd semester and 6 months during the 4th semester (between January and September)

Program

Teaching is divided between classes structured around blocks of competencies (BC) and learning opportunities; these opportunities are the occasion for students to put into practice the knowledge and skills that they acquired, and to learn how to mobilise resources while keeping a final common objective in mind.

The course’ schedule is the same for the students in initial education and for those in apprenticeships. The learning rhythm for apprentices is 1 week in school and 1 week in enterprise.

Courses are mainly taught in English and sometimes in another language. In addition, students have to study 3 languages:

  • LVA : mandatorily English
  • LVB : choice between German, Chinese, Spanish or French for non-native speakers.
  • LVC : choice between Italian or Dutch (at beginner level).

1st year of Master’s  
For each specialty: English, Spanish or Chinese
Semester 1: 30 ECTS
Semester 2: 30 ECTS
          Mandatory 8-week internship

2nd year of Master’s
For each specialty: English, Spanish or Chinese
Semester 3 : 30h - 30 ECTS
Semester 4 : 30h - 30 ECTS
          Mandatory 6-months internship (in France or abroad) with the redaction of an internship report and a dissertation to defend.

  • This course is open to people with a bachelor-level education or equivalent. People wishing to enter this course must give an application brief and pass a selective interview.
  • The majority of courses offered at Artois University are taught in French, although there are a certain number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses with English options. A good understanding of the French language (at least B1 Level) is therefore necessary in most cases.
